This site publishes few pages on purpose. Each one should leave you with a short, sourced picture of a place we know, not a pile of undated copy.
What a source is
A source is a primary page we can point to: the National Park Service, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, EGLE, the USGS, a county, or the operator of the place. We list the title, the URL and the date we opened it. Secondary blogs and undated roundups are not enough on their own.
Review dates
Each article shows Last reviewed and Next review. Hours, fees, ferries and access are on a 90-day cycle. History and geology are on a 12-month cycle. We change the date only after someone rechecks the sources. We do not refresh a date to look new.
Images
We use our own illustrations and photographs, or public-domain / clearly licensed agency images, each checked one by one. Every hero image carries a credit, a license line and a source URL. No AI-generated pictures. No stock without a license.
What we will not do
We do not run forms, cookies, advertising pixels or Facebook embeds. We do not invent author profiles. The byline is the Mitten Trails team. Contact is mailto only: hello@mittentrails.com.
Corrections
See something wrong? Email hello@mittentrails.com. Tell us the page and the line. We will check the source and fix it, and the review date will move when we do.
